North Georgia Arts Tour: Discover local art across Rabun, surrounding counties

CLAYTON — The Summer Season is officially here and with the promise of warmer weather, there’s no better time to hit the road for the North Georgia Arts Tour set to take place this weekend in Rabun and surrounding counties.

The self-guided tour features artist demonstrations at art galleries, local art museums and studios and potteries with additional stops available at premier local wineries, restaurants, inns and B&Bs.

Many local businesses will be participating across Rabun County and will have a designated yellow Arts Tour sign in front of their establishment — Dogwoods, Foxfire Museum & Heritage Center, Gather, The Hambidge Center and the North Georgia Arts Guild are just a few out of the handful of places who will be participating.

A wide array of different art mediums will be available such as pottery, jewelry, handcrafted furniture, paintings and photography available for buying or just a sight for onlookers interested in the craft.

The North Georgia Arts Tour will kick off Friday, June 8 and will continue through until Sunday, June 10. Tour hours are 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 8; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 9 and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 10.

It will be the last opportunity until next season to go behind the scenes with local artists and see how they craft their masterpieces.

Brochures featuring the tour, including a map keyed to art stops, dining and wineries and lodging are available at chambers of commerce, welcome centers and art tour stops. You can also download a brochure online at artstour.org, or on Facebook/NGAARTSTOUR.
