NGTC Foundation announces Two Memorial Funds for Late President

The North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Foundation has established two memorial funds to recognize the leadership and many contributions of the late NGTC President Dr. Mark A. Ivester: an endowed scholarship fund and a renovation of the college’s historical gymnasium into a community and student wellness and learning center.  “Dr. Ivester’s focus was always on our students and our community,” said NGTC Interim President Michele Shirley. “Our college is memorializing him in ways that would offer support to our students. We are pleased to announce that the NGTC Foundation has established an endowed scholarship to honor his memory to assist students, especially at this critical time of need for so many people. We are also working to revitalize the historical gymnasium building on campus that meant so much to our community and offer student learning and programming for future generations. We are thankful to have so much community support to help memorialize such a tremendous president, leader, and friend.”  Dr. Ivester served the college for more than 20 years in many leadership capacities and was constantly searching for ways to improve both instruction and facilities on the three campuses that serve an eight-county Northeast Georgia area. Dr. Ivester worked tirelessly to ensure that every student had the tools and experience needed to graduate, go to work, and enjoy a successful, productive career. Dr. Ivester passed away on Sept. 12 due to complications from COVID-19.  Donations may be specified for the Dr. Mark A. Ivester Memorial Scholarship or the Gymnasium Wellness and Learning Center and may be given online at the college website at https://northgatech.edu/foundation/donate. If preferred, checks can be mailed to the NGTC Foundation, P.O. Box 65, Clarkesville, GA 30523. Donations are tax-deductible, and the family will be notified of scholarship and gymnasium renovation contributions. For more information, call 706-754-7714 or email [email protected].
