GA Mountains sets Two Labor Force Records in February

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announces that the Georgia Mountains region set two records for its labor force and employment in February.  The 13-county region also saw its annual numbers for the labor force, employed residents increase, according to preliminary numbers. In the region, the February unemployment remained unchanged, staying at 3.0 percent. It was 3.3 percent one year ago.  The labor force increased in February by 2,218 to reach 356,039 total members, an all-time high. The number has climbed by 5,249 over the past 12 months. The Georgia Mountains region gained 2,110 employed residents in February, bringing its total to 345,398, an all-time high. That number has grown by 6,188 over the past year.  Initial claims for unemployment went down by about 61 percent in February. They are down by about 9 percent when compared to last year.
