Mountain City Couple arrested for Possession of Morphine

On Nov. 15, a deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and a caseworker with the Department of Community Supervision visited a residence on Electric Avenue to check on a recent overdose involving a probationer.  Upon the visit, the deputy found suspected morphine that was prepared for injection via a syringe inside the residence. The deputy arrested the homeowners, 51-year-old Frank Richard Wheat and 48-year-old Candace Renee Wheat of Mountain City for possession of a schedule I controlled substance and possession and use of drug-related objects.  Both were arrested without incident and booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the two charges. The Department of Family and Children Services was contacted due to a minor living at the residence.
