Morganton Woman arrested for DUI in Clayton

A Morganton woman stands charged with three offenses, including DUI, after a two-vehicle accident in Clayton.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that 46-year-old Jody Ross Medeiros was arrested for failure to maintain lane, driving under the influence of alcohol, and distracted driving.  At 11:31am on Nov. 9, a deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 76 near Chinkapin Drive. The driver of an SUV told the deputy that a Chevy Impala crossed over into his lane and struck him.  The Chevy Impala driver, Medeiros, said that she reached down to get her phone and struck the other vehicle. The deputy smelled alcohol on Medeiros and conducted field sobriety tests on her. She failed those tests and was subsequently arrested on the three charges.
