Missing Chattooga tubers found, 1 injured

After two adults and five children were reported to be missing on the Chattooga River, authorities turned out in force to find them and plans are underway to make their safe return.

The several tubers were thought to have gone missing near the Earl’s Ford section of the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River after they were reported missing Monday according to Scott Krein of the Oconee Emergency Services.

Officials said at the time of establishing a base in Mountain Rest, they did not believe the tubers were in any immediate danger and thought they had spent the night somewhere inside a five-mile corridor of the river according to Ryan Eubanks.

However, once public safety officials located the two adults and five children, they realized one of them was injured.

As of Tuesday morning, rescuers are in the process of utilizing equipment to help get the injured tuber to safety.
