Millage Rate unchanged in Tallulah Falls

The millage rate will remain the same in the Town of Tallulah Falls.  At their regular September council meeting, the Tallulah Falls Town Council set the millage rate for 2019 property taxes, tells Town Clerk Linda Lapeyrouse. “The millage rate for the 2019 taxes was set at 5.868 for Rabun and Habersham property owners within Tallulah Falls.  That is the same as it was last year. There were no reassessments and the rollback millage rate remained the same.” The Town Council also approved two SPLOST projects, tells Lapeyrouse. “We are planning to do a recreational SPLOST project, building a shed for kayaks and canoes more centrally located near the lake.  So, we have dedicated $7,500 to build a metal building to house those. We are also doing an audio system for our meeting room. We’ve had some of our residents complain that they are not able to hear as well when we are having our meetings, so we are going to do a sound system for our meeting room. So, these are projects that were identified in the SPLOST.  We’ve got SPLOST from Habersham and Rabun counties. These are both Habersham County SPLOST items. So, we will be able to complete those projects and we’ve had issues with the water system that are in dire need of some upgrades so once we get those projects closed out then the council can vote to move any remaining funds to the water project, which is also one of the approved projects for the SPLOST.”  The Tallulah Falls Town Council approved the measures unanimously at their regular council meeting on September 5, 2019.
