Meth Charges land Two behind Bars

Two people stand charged with various offenses related to methamphetamine after recent incidents in Rabun County.  The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that on March 24, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 for failure to maintain lane and a brake light requirement.  Upon further investigation, K9 Yorka was deployed and a search of the vehicle was conducted.  During the search of the vehicle, suspected methamphetamine was located along with a firearm.  The deputy arrested 23-year-old Chandler Caudell Smith of Wiley for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and failure to maintain lane.  On March 27, a deputy was dispatched to an address on Highway 76 West in reference to a dispute.  Additional deputies arrived on scene and were met by a man with a gun who was cussing and refusing commands.  After being issued a warning that he was going to be tased, the man complied.  During a search, the man, 58-year-old Cleveland Andrew Harris of Clayton, was found with two clear plastic baggies of suspected methamphetamine in his pants pocket.  He was arrested for possession of a schedule II controlled substance, obstructing law enforcement officers, and terroristic threats and acts.
