Mayor Responds to “Slap in the Face” Comment

After Tuesday’s Water and Sewer meeting in which Chairman Sam Beck called Clayton’s water rate offer to Dillard “a slap in the face”, Clayton Mayor John Bradshaw had this to say…

“I’m not gonna get into the semantics of slap in the face and all that, that’s a, Sam’s a hard worker, Sam’s dedicated to what he does, and his job is to get the best deal he can, and he fights desperately for it. Sam’s a very passionate fellow, not only at this, he’s pretty good at the golf course too. I mean, he’s passionate about what he does when he does it, but no, I got no hard feelings against Sam what so ever, He’s doing what Sam is supposed to do.”

Bradshaw says the City should be willing to revisit the rate in 6 months…

“The rate, I mean six months, we should be able to look at it and see, if it’s too much we will come down on it. I know they say Dillard has new pipes and theirs don’t break, but there’s still a cost that, you know, everyone’s got to share a portion of, and that’s where our biggest argument is, I think, with their new lines they don’t have any leaks, with our line do they owe us a share in cost, and the City of Clayton feels like everyone owes a share, because we all have to deal with it.”
