Man Wanted in SC Arrested in Clayton

A man wanted for Burglary in South Carolina is arrested after a traffic stop in Clayton.

The Assistant Chief of the Clayton Police Department Andy Strait said an officer initiated the stop just before Walmart.

“He observed a white Saturn traveling southbound at 83 miles per hour,” said Strait. “Our speed limit is 45 miles per hour.”

After receiving permission from the driver, identified as William Ernest Schiemann of Dillard, to search the vehicle, officers located an open container of alcohol. Schiemann is charged with Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits and possession of an open container of alcohol.

Two passengers were also in the vehicle, and Strait said one, identified as Aaron Scott Gunn of Walhalla, was allegedly uncooperative.

“He was continually deceptive with police,” said Strait. “He gave improper names and birth dates to us.”

Officers discovered that Gunn had an active arrest warrant for burglary in South Carolina. He was arrested for Giving False Name, Address, or Birthdate to Law Enforcement and possession of an open container.
