Local Varsity Football Games moved to Thursday Night

Due to the threat of severe weather associated with Hurricane Ian, both the Rabun County and Rabun Gap varsity football teams will be playing on Thursday, September 29, 2022.  The Rabun County Wildcats varsity football team will travel to Roswell to play the Fellowship Christian Paladins in a non-region game.  Rabun County High School Athletic Director Jason Gibson gives details.  “The decision was made by Fellowship Christian to see if we wanted to move the game up to avoid the weather that is potentially coming in for Friday night.  So, we talked it over with administration and decided that we would agree to move the game to 7:30pm on Thursday still at Fellowship Christian but just moved up one day.”  If you can’t make it to the game, you can listen to the Rabun County High School varsity football game on Sky 96.3.  The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School varsity football game has also been moved up to Thursday, September 29, 2022.  The Eagles will host the Charlotte Christian School Knights at 6pm in Zavala Family Stadium, says Rabun Gap Athletic Director Dale Earnhardt.  “Our opponent, Charlotte Christian, who is coming from a pretty good distance we wanted to reach out to them early in the week just to see what they are thinking, and the forecast says that it looks like Thursday is going to be pretty nice here but Friday is not going to be nice.  For a team that is coming from four hours away, I’m not worried about playing a game in rain and wind, I’m not worried about our field, but I am worried about them traveling home at 11pm Friday night in what could be some high winds and severe rain.  So, they agreed to move it to Thursday at 6pm.  We should have a beautiful evening here on campus in Zavala Family Stadium for a key matchup between two really good teams that honestly we’re battling for the 2 seed.  The winner of this kind of game locks in that 2 spot for the state playoffs and would mean 2 home games.  So, it’s a key matchup for both teams as they try to make a run for a state championship.”  If you can’t make it to the game, you can listen to it on Real Country 100.3.
