Local resident awarded ‘Tourism Volunteer of the Year’

Earlier in the week, an outstanding member of the community was recognized for her hard and diligent work in promoting and developing the movie and film development here in Rabun County.

Pam Thompson, owner-operator at the Dillard House Stables and current Lakemont resident, was awarded the first ever “Tourism Volunteer of the Year” award for her work with the Camera Ready Program.

Thompson also serves as a current Executive Board Member on Rabun County Ready, an extension of Georgia’s Camera Ready Communities program which connects film and TV productions with skilled county liaisons across the state to provide local expertise and support.

County Commissioner Greg James; Tourism Development Authority (TDA) Executive Director Teka Earnhardt, and TDA Board Chair Alan Price presented the award and thanked her for her many hours of service in helping to promote Rabun County.
