Legislative Reception Held

The Rabun County Chamber of Commerce held their Legislative Reception Thursday night.

The event took place at the Dillard House, and featured the candidates that will be on Rabun County’s ballot in November, including the local race, state races, and a U.S. Congressional race.

The two Sheriff’s candidates had a chance to speak to those in attendance.

Incumbent Frank Andrews, the republican candidate, says he thankful to have been Rabun County’s Sheriff for the past four years, and would like to continue working hard for Rabun County.

Democratic Challenger Shawn Wilson says that he is passionate about drug enforcement.

The two candidates on the ballot to be the State Representative in the 8th district had a chance to speak.

The Republican Incumbent Stephen Allison says that he is thankful for the opportunity to be representative.

Democratic challenger Jana Hill, who resides in Rabun County, says she would take pride in the position of representative.

Only one candidate for the 9th U.S. Congressional District was present. Republican Doug Collins was unable to attend as he was in Tampa for the Republican National Convention.

Democrat Jody Cooley was present, however, and says his platform rests on four “C’s,” Country-first, common sense, compromise, and courage.

The date of the General Election is November 6th.
