Lease Disagreement Between Paws, Boggs

Rabun Paws 4 Life is continuing towards the operation of an animal shelter in Rabun County.

However, one issue preventing that from happening is that time is the lease of the building that houses the animal control and animal shelter facilities.

Shannon Conrad with Rabun Paws 4 Life said they have sent a lease agreement to Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter, Incorporated, and are awaiting their signature.

“Currently, we’re still negotiating on the building lease,” said Conrad. “They have a lease provided by the county for us all to sign, and it’s currently in review.”

Danny Benson with Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter, however, said that Boggs Mountain first sent their own lease for Paws 4 Life to sign.

“Certainly, we want to finish this lease that we have prepared and get it signed so they can take operation of the facility as soon as possible,” said Benson. “I think we set a November 1 projection date, and if they could sign the lease, we’d be happy to do it.”

Benson said that Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter plans to give grant information as well as some funds to Paws 4 Life to help with their start up, but will remain a board and remain in control of their asset, which is the building.
