Law enforcement: More thefts occur on Black Friday than any other holiday

It seems as if more and more people are heading out earlier than the year before to snag those Black Friday deals but before you head out Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols wants to remind you of a few things.

First and foremost, for anyone planning on staying local and hitting up the local Walmart, shoplifting will be largely enforced and closely monitored by deputies.

Nichols also pointed out that this time of year is all about the Christmas Spirit and to not get involved in fights when out looking to score a good deal.

It’s also to keep in mind when shopping around the midnight hours to pay close attention to where you parked and make sure it is in a well-lit area to deter any thieves from making an advance.

Lastly, Nichols said to make sure to wear your seatbelt on the highway as traffic will most likely be heavier from the holiday.
