Landlord pulls gun on tenant

LAKEMONT The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, responded to an incident in which two individuals claimed their landlord had aimed a gun at them.

The Lakemont residence in which deputies were called out to the scene, belonged to tenant Lynn Hiott who claimed her landlord began banging on her door aggressively earlier on in the week. A second individual who mediated the situation, Randy Clark Snow Jr., of Clayton, testified to the situation and told authorities when Hiott opened her door upon hearing the banging, her landlord, Joey Fountain, began to scream at her.

According to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, Fountain screamed at Hiott claiming she had not paid her bills and she had 24 hours to evacuate the premises. Snow stepped up to Hiott and asked that he stop yelling and told the man there was no reason to be upset. Upon hearing this, both Snow and Hiott told authorities that Fountain took out a small caliber pistol and pointed it at the chest of Snow.

Eventually, the quarrel dissipated and Fountain left the residence. Neither Snow or Hiott pressed charges. Instead, Hiott was advised of her rights as a renter and of the Magistrate process of eviction.
