Lakemont Man arrested for DUI

On Dec. 4, a deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Stone Haven Drive in reference to a suspicious vehicle.  The deputy made contact with the driver, 37-year-old Jacob Emory Butler of Lakemont, and smelled alcohol. The deputy also noticed a Vodka bottle on the rear passenger floorboard.  Butler told the deputy that he was visiting his father and the deputy informed him that he was not at his father’s residence. After failing the field sobriety tests, Butler was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open alcohol container, driving a motor vehicle on a suspended registration, and driving without a valid license.  He was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the four charges and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
