Lake Burton, Rabun remain under ‘No Wake’
After more than several inches of heavy rain-fall accumulated in some parts of Rabun County, many bodies of water threatened to overflow — including Lake Burton and Lake Rabun which still remain above full-pool.
According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the water level rose more than two feet since Tuesday which prompted a draw-down on Friday to ensure the safety of local residents and their property.
Local public safety officials told WRBN/WGHC News “the water level was so high that anytime someone would go by on a boat, water would spill over onto porches and boat docks.”
According to the Lake Rabun Association, “Lake Rabun is under a NO WAKE Policy till further notice – Idle Speed Only.”
As for Lake Burton, the same protocol follows until lake levels have been stabilized.
