Labor Day Travel Statistics

The Labor Day Holiday Travel Period is complete, and the Georgia Department of Public Safety is reporting ten deaths on Georgia roads.

During the 78 hour travel period from 6 p.m. Friday to Monday at midnight, ten people were killed in eight fatal accidents.

One of those fatalities is reported to have occurred in the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol.

In all, the State Patrol investigated 373 motor vehicle accidents this weekend, resulting in 230 injuries.

The GSP arrested 240 people over the weekend for driving under the influence, while issuing nearly 1000 citations for seatbelt violations.

Troopers also recovered six stolen vehicles.
