Keep Debris out of Ditches

The City of Clayton is close to finalizing an ordinance that would make it illegal to clog ditches with debris.  At their work session meeting Tuesday night, the Clayton City Council discussed a new ordinance, explains City Manager Cissy Henry.  “We’re just trying to ease the pain for our Streets Department to prevent people from blowing their leaves into the ditches because it clogs up the drains and then that just causes all kinds of issues.  So, we have an ordinance that if you live in the city limits that you would not be able to blow those leaves and debris down into the ditches that would clog up the storm drains or the drains that go under driveways.”  The Clayton City Council is scheduled to vote on the clogging ditches with debris ordinance at their next meeting, which is set for Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 3pm.
