K9s Doug and Jorka receive multi-threat ballistic vests

The two most adorable deputies at the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office have been outfitted with multi-threat ballistic vests to keep them safe while on patrol.

K9s Doug and Jorka received a generous donation from a non-profit organization called Protecting K9 Heroes who strive to equip all K9’s countrywide with protective gear.

Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols said an individual from within the community provided the funds to cover the costs of the vests.

Each ballistic vest includes a K9 First Aid Medical Kit and a Narcan Kit, which blocks the effects of opioids and reverses overdoses within 2-5 minutes.
