Injunction Hearing for SPLOST Set
A date has been scheduled for the injunction hearing on the special purpose local option sales tax.
In March, the city of Clayton filed a complaint for injunction, declaratory judgment, and mandamus alleging that the Intergovernmental Agreement and Resolution calling for the SPLOST vote was insufficient on multiple counts.
The injunction calls for a ruling to prevent any the tax from being collected until a ruling is made on whether or not the SPLOST is valid.
That initial injunction hearing is set for May 29th, and will be heard by Senior Superior Court Judge G. Grant Brantley.
Two motions made by the county, one for the city to pay a bond and the other for dismissal, will also be heard at that time.
