Heart of Habersham Project hosting ‘Light the Night Against Bullying’

Join the newly-formed Heart of Habersham Project for “Light the Night Against Bullying.”

The free family festival will run from 7-9 p.m. and feature superheroes from Heroes In Force, music, activities, emergency vehicles, a photo booth and more.

Heart of Habersham Project is a community-based group made up of students and adults who want to promote “commUNITY” and raise awareness of bullying, while working to find solutions to help those who are victims.

“We are excited to bring this event to Habersham County to raise awareness of bullying at all levels of our community, and to engage with other organizations to provide resources to help those enduring it,” says Angela Barrett, president of Heart of Habersham Project.

“Our student officers and representatives of the group will be present during the event to talk with those attending as we work to bring our community together in a fun atmosphere,” Barrett says. “Near dusk, we will light up public safety vehicles, tow trucks, utility trucks and other vehicles as a means of sending a symbolic message that it’s time we address this societal issue in Northeast Georgia.”

Public parking will be from the Camp Creek Road side of campus, with overflow parking available in the former driver education range adjacent to Raider Stadium, also accessible from Camp Creek Road.

In order to keep the event free to the community, no sales vendors will be allowed.

Any organization that would like to set up an information booth or bring public safety vehicles may contact Barrett at [email protected] or (706) 499-8525.
