Health Department welcomes new hygienist thanks to pilot program

For parents or anyone who is under the age of 21 that are trying to save some money while going to get your teeth cleaned, you might want to consider the Rabun County Health Department.

Thanks to recent legislation which implemented a pilot program statewide for health departments to offer dental care administered by a hygienist, Kelly Allen has officially been welcomed as Rabun County Health Department’s newest Hygienist.

Allen explained that Rabun was offered the opportunity to conduct the pilot program.

As far as what kind of services the public can expect from the dental department, Allen said they are able to provide preventative and restorative services.

Allen said as far as price goes, patients can expect to pay nearly six times lower costs than that of private dental practice.

Given the opportunity, Allen said they are able to provide the public with excellent services.

For hours of operations, Allen said they see patients on mostly Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
