Habersham County Senior Center wins Wii Bowling Division Award
Habersham County Government Public Information Officer Ashlyn Brady reports that the Habersham County Senior Center has recently competed in the Legacy Link NSL Wii Bowling Competition, and the Habersham County Senior Center “Love Bugs” were among the few teams to be Division Winners. The National Senior League (NSL) is a non-profit organization that organizes and manages national Wii bowling championships for seniors. The NSL was founded in 2009 by Dennis Berkholtz, who wanted to create a competitive and entertaining atmosphere for seniors. The organization hosts annual championships and recognizes the top 40 senior Wii bowling teams in the world. Assisted living communities, senior centers, long-term care facilities, and independent senior living communities all over the country compete in this league, which is why it is so important that a team from Habersham County Senior Center won. The National Senior League Wii Bowling has 7 divisions, with scores ranging from 300 all the way down to 120 points. There are also well over 200 teams that compete in this league all over the U.S. The members of the Habersham County Senior Center have practiced and dedicated many hours to this activity. The “Love Bugs”, comprised of 4 team members (Brenda King, Steve Tench, Jan Gulley, & Marie Perry), won the league’s Super Master 3 Division, which means they averaged somewhere between 160 to 180 points. We want to give our thanks to the NSL program as it helps our seniors find fun activities that they enjoy doing. The Habersham County Senior Center always has fun events and activities going on for the seniors in the community to participate in.
