Habersham Co. Case evolves from Missing Person to Discovered Body to Murder Investigation

A case in Habersham County has evolved from a missing person to a discovered body to a murder investigation.  On September 10, family members reported 59-year-old Deborah Collier of Athens missing.  On September 11, her burned body was discovered near Georgia 15 and Victory Home Lane in Clarkesville.  The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office reports that she visited the Family Dollar in Clayton around 3pm the day before she died.  The store’s video footage shows that she was alone in a van when she arrived.   The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office says that this information allows investigators to narrow the time of death to a window beginning at 3pm on September 10, to the discovery of her body at 12:44pm on September 11.  Anyone with information is asked to call 706-839-0559.  The investigation by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
