Gov. Kemp to host Capitol Tree Lighting

Governor Brian Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, and the Georgia Building Authority will host the annual State Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 3, at 1pm. The ceremony will include the reveal of the twenty-five-foot Eastern Red Cedar from Cobb County with 25,000 lights.  The ceremony will highlight the Department of Family and Children’s Services’ Secret Santa Program. Gifts collected through this program will be distributed to over 9,000 youth in 126 counties. This free event will include remarks by Governor Kemp, Marty Smith, and Chef Holly Chute; a performance by the Atlanta Boy Choir; photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus; and Georgia Grown refreshments.  It takes place at the Georgia State Capitol at 206 Washington Street in downtown Atlanta. Members of the public and media are encouraged to attend. There are public entrances available on the first floor of the Capitol along Mitchell Street and second floor along Washington Street.
