Get Ready for the Release

According to Park Manager Danny Tatum, Tallulah Gorge’s Spring Whitewater releases are about to happen…

“It’s the first two weekends of April, which is coming up, this Easter Weekend will be the first weekend, and the weekend following. We have 500 cubic feet, cfs per second, of the water releases on Saturdays, we have 700 on Sunday.”

The Whitewater release proves to be a big draw every April…

“We have boaters from all over the nation, all over the world show up for this. It’s a big event and we look forward to it every year.”

Tatum adds that with the water release creating class 5 rapids in some areas, it would be good to have some real boating experience before getting on the water these next two weekends.
