GDEcD gains a Rabunite

It’s no secret that Rick Story has held a number of positions throughout his career that have brought tremendous economic growth to Rabun County.

Now, Story has another title to add to his already prestigious list as he was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Economic Development within the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD).

In an executive order issued by Gov. Nathan Deal released last month, it mandated “that Rick Story of Rabun County is appointed to serve as the Ninth Congressional Representative to the Board of Economic Development for a term of office ending July 1, 23, to succeed Randall Pugh, whose term expired in July 2018.”

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state’s sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, aligning workforce education and training with in-demand jobs, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a destination for arts and location for film, music and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.
