Gainesville Woman Arrested After Chase

A Gainesville woman is arrested last weekend after leading law enforcement on a chase all the way into another county.

According to a report on file with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, Cindy Leona Carlin-Chis of Gainesville struck an unattended vehicle on the side of the road on Highway 197 around four miles south of Highway 76.

A biologist at Moccasin Creek Fish Hatchery witnessed the accident, and notified the Department of Natural Resources

Carlin-Chis fled the scene of the accident, and was pursued by the US Forest Service onto Highway 76 into Union County, where she was apprehended.

She is charged with driving too fast for conditions and leaving the scene of an accident as well as other charges.
