Four Wrecks in Rabun Co.
Four wrecks recently occurred in Rabun County. The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office reports that at 12:30am on Jan. 3, a 2008 Nissan Altima lost control while negotiating a curve on Devil’s Branch Road and slid off the roadway into a ditch. No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident. The second wreck happened at 8:48am on Jan. 3, when a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer rear-ended a 2003 Honda Accord on Old 441 at its intersection with Watts Street. Two people in the Accord were transported by EMS to Mountain Lakes Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the two-vehicle crash. The third wreck occurred at 11:52pm on Jan. 3. The driver of a 2007 Mazda was traveling east on West Boggs Mountain Road when he lost control and went into a ditch. The driver, 27-year-old Alan Hernandez Mora, was arrested at the crash scene for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Rabun County Detention Center. The fourth wreck happened at 4pm on Jan. 5. The driver of a 1987 Chevrolet V20 told a deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office that while he was inside the golf course building getting golf balls, his dog knocked the truck out of gear and it rolled down the hill, across the golf course, and into the creek. No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident.
