Filmmakers Return to Rabun County

A group of filmmakers return to Rabun County.

During this summer’s “Chattooga River Festival,” filmmakers who are making a documentary entitled “The Deliverance of Rabun County” captured footage in an attempt to examine how Rabun County relates to the stigma that the film “Deliverance” left behind.

This weekend, they came back to gain even more insight into this community.

The film’s producer, Cory Welles, said it was exciting to be able to meet with those in the community this past Friday.

“I think people need a voice,” said Welles. “Deliverance got us here, but we came back and are going to keep coming back because of Rabun County. This documentary is about Rabun County, and the people of Rabun County.”

They were at the Amara Center Friday, speaking with anyone who wanted to drop by as well as gathering footage for their upcoming film.
