Enjoy “Season of Light” at YHC’s O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium

“Season of Light,” a special holiday presentation in Young Harris College’s O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium, will take place Friday, Dec. 6 at 8pm and Friday, Dec. 13, at 8pm. This perennial holiday favorite is a show about the coldest and darkest of seasons—a time that holds some of the warmest and brightest celebrations of the year. Narrated by NPR’s Noah Adams, the show explores the traditions surrounding the world’s most endearing holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season—from the burning Yule log and the lighting of luminarias to sparkling Christmas tree lights and candles in windows. The program also explores possible astronomical explanations for the star that led the Wise Men to Bethlehem. Come and celebrate the season through the wonder of the planetarium’s star-filled sky.  Planetarium events are open to the public. Each planetarium show costs $5 per adult, $3 per child and is free for YHC students, faculty and staff. Planetarium tickets may be purchased in advance at yhc.edu/planetarium. From there, select the link to “Public Shows” for a listing of upcoming show dates and times. Select “Get Tickets” under the date and time of the show you want to attend.  The planetarium is housed in the Maxwell Center for Mathematics and Sciences on the YHC campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Georgia. For more information about planetarium events, please contact the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at (706) 379-5195 or visit yhc.edu/planetarium.
