Ethel Brannon of Rabun Gap

Ethel Virginia Beard Brannon, 88, of Rabun Gap, GA, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Scottsboro, AL and was the daughter of the late Roy Beard and Johnnie Childress Beard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Nolen Brannon, two brothers, Lester Beard and Elbert Beaird; and one sister, Ruth Akin.

Mrs. Brannon is survived by one son, Dwain (Jackie) Brannon of Hartwell, GA; three daughters, Judy Buttolph (Stephen) of Johnson City, TN, Ginny Bryan (Randy) of Rabun Gap, GA, and Angela Kiker (Steve) of Newnan, GA; two brothers, Wayne Beaird and Arthur Beard; and two sisters, Eunice Phillips and Jane Phillips. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Tammy Cobb, Cyndy Moore, Cristy Kesling, Amanda Harley, Angie Sullivan, Kathleen Seay, Buck Bryan, Charlie Bryan, and Stephen Kiker; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brannon attended Clayton Baptist Church and was active in Ideal Sunday School Class. She was also active in AWANA; and was a member of the Womans Club, and Homemakers Club in Union City, GA. She was active in the Union City Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a seamstress, cook, gardener, money manager as well as a great neighbor, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11 AM, Friday, April 29, 2016 at Clayton Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 11 AM at Clayton Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Thompson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 5 PM at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn, GA with Rev. Paul Seay officiating at Graveside.
