EMA suggests preparation ahead of freezing temperatures

With lows expected to drop in the mid-teens over this upcoming holiday weekend, local Emergency Management Officials want you to be prepared should another ice storm affect our county.

Current weather forecasts are calling for a rainy weekend with strong wind gusts moving in Saturday. Combine that with temperatures dropping below 20 degrees Sunday night, that could be a recipe for disaster.

EMA officials advise that you make preparations ahead of time such as making sure your heating appliances are running correctly and checking to see if your generator is ready to run should the power go out in the event of high winds.

Another suggestion is to make sure you leave faucets dripping overnight to avoid frozen or busted pipes.

As always, make sure to monitor the latest weather forecast by staying tuned to Sky 96.3 or checking the National Weather Service online.
