Elizabeth (Davis) Gilbert

Elizabeth Davis Gilbert went to her Forever Home on Tuesday, June 19, after a long and faithful life. She celebrated her 90th birthday this year. She was a long time resident of Rabun County.

She was born May 9, 1928 in Biltmore, North Carolina to Andrew William and Johnnie Evans Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Gilbert, and siblings, Wade Allen Davis, Jeannette Cook, and Caroline Walker.

She is survived by her daughters, Andrea Gilbert Black (Robby), Joan Gilbert Rhoden (Gordon), Patricia Gilbert Sheffield (Jim),  and grandchildren Joel Black (Melanie), Sheri Black Ebanks (Mark), Joy Rhoden Walker (Bobby), Julie Sheffield Starcher (David), Jill Rhoden, Tim Black (Kelly), Jamey Sheffield (Katherine), Jeannine Rhoden Henderson (Chris), John Sheffield (Michelle), Josh Black (Danielle) and great-grandchildren: Hannah, Ben, Caleb, Rebekah, Kyle, Kayden, Jarrod, Nicholas, Anelise, Beckett, Lanie, Lexie, Taylor, Sean, Austin, and Quinn.

She is survived by her sisters, Linda Fleming and Phoebe Blackwell, sister-in-law, Claudine Gilbert, and 16 nieces and nephews.

A service rejoicing in a life well lived will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at Beck Funeral Home, 898 Hwy 441 South, Clayton, GA 30525.  A graveside service will be held at Yonah Memorial Cemetery in Demorest, GA. Friends and family will be greeted prior to the service at a 12:00 noon visitation.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Bible Church P.O. Box 631 Mountain City, GA, 30562 in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Davis Gilbert.
