Drought Monitor

The latest statistics from the United States Drought Monitor are out, and show that drought conditions remain consistent throughout Rabun County.

Rabun County is currently classified as being “abnormally dry,” with a small portion of the county in the Sky Valley area considered drought free.

This has been the case for three straight weeks, as Rabun County has received some rainfall, but not enough to totally break free of the abnormally dry conditions.

Regionally, both Habersham and Stephens counties remain abnormally dry.

Oconee County South Carolina is improving, with only the southern portion of the county facing abnormally dry conditions. The northern part of the county is drought free.

Meanwhile, Macon County, North Carolina, remains totally drought free.

The lake levels within Rabun County remain consistent, with Lakes Burton and Seed at just over one foot below full elevation, while Lake Rabun is nearly two feet below full elevation.
