Drought Conditions Consistent

Drought Conditions remain consistent within Northeast Georgia.

The northern part of Rabun County is currently facing abnormally dry conditions, while the southern portion is facing moderate drought conditions.

This is very similar to last week’s drought conditions, which also saw the county divided between abnormally dry and moderate drought conditions.

United States Department of Agriculture meteorologist Brad Rippey says that nationwide, record setting high temperatures caused a cycle of heat and drought.

Regionally, both Habersham County and Stephens County are facing moderate drought conditions, while Oconee County South Carolina and Macon County North Carolina are facing abnormally dry conditions.
