Driver charged with DUI from NYE wreck involving entrapment

The driver from a wreck involving entrapment that occurred in Tiger minutes before midnight on New Year’s Eve has been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) among other charges.

According to local authorities, William Tyler Webb, 26, of Clayton, was traveling south on Blair Street before he lost control of his vehicle and went off the right side of the road.

The Chevy Silverado began to roll in a counter-clockwise motion according to the Georgia State Patrol Post 7. The vehicle, along with its two occupants traveled off the east side of South Main Street before overturning and coming to a rest on it’s top in a ditch with fast-flowing water.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Department, Rabun County Fire Station 12 and Rabun County EMS assisted GSP in the recovery of Webb and his passenger who was trapped inside the vehicle.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Justin Upchurch, the door was removed and both of the occupants were able to crawl out.

In the police report provided by GSP, alcohol was believed to be a factor. As a result, Webb has been charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Too fast for Conditions, Tire Requirements and Registration Requirements.
