Don’t clog Ditches with Debris

At their regular monthly meeting for September, the Clayton City Council passed first reading of an ordinance against clogging ditches with debris.  This ordinance comes as a recommendation from the Zoning Board, explains Clayton City Clerk Rhonda Lunsford. “It’s regarding ditches in front of people’s homes and businesses and when ditches fill up with trash, debris, and what have you, then erosion takes place when it rains and it becomes very hazardous on the roads.  So, we are trying to keep everyone from blowing their leaves, throwing their tree limbs, and throwing their whatever in the ditches because our street guys are in the process of cleaning ditches right now and once those are cleaned we want to keep them that way.” Second reading of the ordinance against clogging ditches with debris is scheduled for the regular monthly meeting of the Clayton City Council in October.
