County Files Response to SPLOST Suit

Rabun County has filed their response to the suit opposing the special purpose local option sales tax.

The response filed in Rabun County Superior Court Thursday denies the majority of the cities claims, except for those that County Attorney Allyn Stockton said he felt were completely lawful to begin with.

“At the end of the day, I think they are trying to make it appear that there were more meetings and more interactions between the county and the various cities required,” said Stockton. “The law requires that there be one meeting, and we had that meeting on August 27th.”

The county’s response was filed by the SPLOST attorney they voted to retain at their previous meeting, Ken Jarrard.
