Council Members React to Mayor’s Veto

After the Mayor used his Power of Veto some members of the Clayton City Council have given their opinions on the matter, including Councilwoman Debbie Chishlom who made the original motion…

“I don’t exactly understand why he vetoed a letter that was just asking them to come and talk to us, because it’s against the law to tap on to the waterline, and someone needs to come and talk to us and take responsibility. They’ve been talking about this, putting in this line for at least two years and for two years no one has discussed, and someone needs to take responsibility for it. Someone needs to say, yeah we’re going to pay.”

Chishlom adds that she just wants everyone to pay their fair share. Councilmen Brian Panell also spoke on the Mayor’s veto…

“I voted no against Councilwoman Chishlom’s motion to proceed forward with this, and I fully support the Mayor in his decision, and proud to see that he exercised his veto right to stop this, and investigate this further where we can move away from the litigation and try to work things out appropriately.”

A time and date for a meeting between Clayton City Council members and Water Authority members is being worked on.
