Corbett’s Record-Breaking Night lifts TFS over Athens Christian

Tallulah Falls School (TFS) Athletics reports that on Friday night, TFS recognized seniors Katy Corbett, Iray Adeleke, and Abby Carlan and the Lady Indians grabbed a 71-10 win over visiting Athens Christian as Corbett had a legendary performance, setting a school record and two new career highs.  Corbett drained a record 10 3-pointers, just three shy of the Georgia HS state record. It was four better than her own school record of six. She also had 32 points, giving her a new career-high in points and her first-ever 30-point game.  TFS raced out to a 14-0 lead, forcing an early timeout by the visitors. Adeleke proved to be the go-to option in the first, scoring 12 points in the quarter as the Lady Indians led 23-7 after one. In the second, Corbett got hot from beyond the arc, making five shots from deep in the second alone. The Lady Indians led 41-10 at the half.  Corbett opened the third with four straight triples, the first giving her a new school record. The team and crowd on hand went wild with each 3-pointer that splashed in after that. The girls led 57-10 after the third, and held Athens Christian scoreless for the entire second half.  Corbett led the way with 32 points, while Adeleke had 18 and Carlan 13. The seniors combined for 63 of the 71 points. Barrett Whitener chipped in with four points and Molly Mitchell had two.  The Lady Indians improve to 15-6 overall and 7-1 within region play, producing a tie atop the standings with Athens Academy. The girls now prepare for the region tournament, and have secured a state playoff spot already with a top-two region seed.  Photo by Crump Photo showing Katy Corbett.
