Complete Election Results

The Sheriff’s race in Rabun County has been decided, and the Incumbent will serve another term.

Republican Frank Andrews has received 4,102 votes, or 55.7%, while Democratic Challenger Shawn Wilson has received 3,242 votes, or 44%. That includes all votes cast by way of paper absentee ballots, in person early voting, and in person voting on the day of the election.

Andrews said this regarding his victory.

“I want to thank everyone that participated and helped with my election, all the people that worked hard, people standing on the streets waving signs, people that assisted me with commercials, they worked very hard,” said Andrews. “I thank the citizens of Rabun County for giving me the opportunity to serve as their Sheriff again.”

While Wilson did speak with Sky104 regarding the projected election results during our live broadcast, he could not be reached for comment following the completion of the tallying of the ballots.

 

In the race for the State Representative in the 8th District, Rabun County’s votes primarily favored the Incumbent.

Rabun County cast 4,785 votes, or 67.8%, for Republican Incumbent Stephen Allison, while Democratic Challenger Jana Hill received 2,268 votes, or 32.2%. That is also including all votes cast.

Those numbers are reflected district wide, as with all four counties reporting according to the Secretary of State’s Office website, Allison has collected 72.5%, or 18,699 votes to Hill’s 7,092, or 27.5%.

Regarding his victory, Allison said this.

“I want to thank all my supporters in Rabun County for believing in me, and sending me back to Atlanta for two more years,” said Allison. “I will work hard to restore they trust they have given me, and keep doing what we have been doing.”

Regarding her defeat, Hill said this.

“I made this about what I thought were the issues that were important to the voters and they’ve made their choice,” said Hill.  “I’m proud of the race that I ran, and congratulations to my opponent, and I will see everyone in town.”

Hill resides in Rabun County.

 

Rabun County favors the Republican candidate in the race for the 9th U. S. Congressional District.

Rabun County has cast 4,966 votes, or 71.8%, for Republican Doug Collins, while Democrat Jody Cooley receives just 1,949 votes, or 28.2%. That is counting all votes cast.

With all 20 counties reporting, those numbers are reflected district wide, as Collins collects 76% of the vote.

Cooley responded to the news of his defeat.

“I’m disappointed that I didn’t win, and disappointed that we didn’t run better in terms of the numbers than we did, but I’m not dejected nor depressed because we did our best, and we gave a lot of people somebody to vote for, and we were well received throughout the district.”

 

Regarding the Constitutional Amendment for Charter Schools, within Rabun County, 3,794 voters, or 53.6%, are for the amendment.

Those numbers are reflected statewide, as 58.5% are in favor of the amendment, with all but Fulton county completely reported.

 

Regarding the Constitutional Amendment for Multiyear Rental Agreements, 3,948 voters in Rabun County, or 58.6%, are in favor of the amendment.

Those numbers are also reflected statewide, as 63.7% are for the amendment, with still 158 of 159 counties reporting.

 

Within Rabun County, Republican Incumbent Chuck Eaton took 71.8% of the vote, or 4,826 votes, to remain as Public Service Commissioner, while in the other Public Service Commissioner race, Republican Incumbent Stan Wise took 80.9% of the vote, or 5,224 votes, in Rabun County.

With 158 counties reporting, Eaton has 52.2% of the state’s vote in his race, while Wise has 65.9% in his.

 

As far as the Presidential election is concerned, Rabun County favored Mitt Romney with 5,753 votes, or 77%, to Barack Obama’s 1,551, or 21%.
