Commissioners Discuss Arena

The Rabun County Board of Commissioners discussed the budget of the arena on Thursday.

During a special called budget workshop, the commissioners discussed whether or not to lower the amount of funds set to go to the Rabun County Arena.

Commissioner Jimmy Loudermilk voiced the opinion of lowering the budget.

“In my personal opinion, I think we need to cut it back,” said Loudermilk. “That’s just my opinion, but like I said, I’m just one person.”

However, Commissioner Stephen Arbitter said that it may be best to keep the budget the same for the time being.

“In the grand scheme of things, I think probably about six year is what it is going to take to get it built up,” said Arbitter. “If at that period of time it’s a part time job, then it’s a part time job. But let’s give it enough time to see what it will be.”

The commissioners also discussed the budget of the development authority of Rabun County.
