UPDATE: Clayton Upset with Planned Dispatch Fees

One of Rabun County’s municipalities responds to the county’s plan to begin charging select cities a fee for dispatch service.

During a budget workshop Thursday, the Rabun County Board of Commissioners discussed having their attorney send letters to Clayton, Mountain City, and Sky valley informing them of a plan to begin charging for dispatch service at some point in the future at an amount that is yet to be determined.

Clayton City Manager Cissy Henry was furious when she received that information.

“It’s sad that when we all live in the same community, whether it be Clayton, Mountain City, Sky Valley, or Rabun County, we’re going to be taxed for a service that should be provided to us through our current taxes.”

Henry also questioned exactly what the city’s fee would cover, and why Dillard and Tiger will not be charged any fees.
