Clayton Sets Sewer Rate for Tiger
The Clayton City Council sets a sewer rate for the town of Tiger.
At the City Council’s monthly meeting Tuesday, Clayton City Attorney Mitch Baker said that a judgment had been signed that voided the administrative and sewer rates for Tiger as they were below the actual cost; however, the council needed to set new rates.
“My recommendation to the council is that since the whole point of the litigation was to make sure that Tiger was in compliance with the law and paying at least their actual cost of treatment and administrative services, that that’s what we charge.”
The council said that during the litigation, cost was determined to be $1.98 for administrative services and $4.63 for sewage treatment.
After some discussion about the possibility of rounding the administrative rate up to an even $2 per bill, councilman John Bradshaw made a motion to approve both the administrative and sewer rates at cost.
That motion carried.
