Clayton Man Arrested on Forgery Charges

A Clayton man is arrested on multiple forgery charges.

According to a report on file at the Clayton Police Department, twenty six year old Manuel Lopez Santos was arrested on three counts of forgery after allegedly taking money from someone else’s bank account.

Assistant Police Chief Andy Strait said investigators talked with Santos on Wednesday.

“He admitted to stealing approximately $4,000 from the victim’s bank account,” said Strait. “He was promptly arrested, and the money was returned to the victim.”

The four thousand dollars was allegedly taken over the span of three withdrawals in the month of December.

Each time, Santos allegedly forged the account holder’s signature.

He was taken to the Rabun County Detention Center on a $16,500 bond.
