Clayton Farmers Market soon to open

CLAYTON Going to your local farmers market should be on everybody’s itinerary. And luckily, the seasonal opening of the Clayton Farmers Market is just around the corner.

On April 28 starting at 9 a.m., fresh produce and other local goods will be on parade at the Northeast Georgia Food Bank. There will be a wide assortment of items offered from jams and jellies to freshly baked pastries. Along with enough crafts to satisfy the whole family.

From savoring produce at the peak of freshness to meeting the people who grow your food, there are countless reasons to support your local farmers market.

Local family farmers need your support the most — small family farms in Rabun County have a hard time competing with large-scale agribusinesses. But buying directly from farmers at the market gives them a fighting chance in today’s globalized economy.

Not to mention, the farmers market is a community hub — a place to meet up with your friends, bring your children, or just get a taste of small-town life in the midst of Clayton.

For any individuals who are interested, the market operates every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will stay open until the end of October.
