Clayton City Council hires Firm to work on City Charter

A firm has been hired by the Clayton City Council to work on updating the city’s charter.  At their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, the council approved a resolution to hire the Georgia Mountain Regional Commission to update the city’s charter, tells Clayton City Clerk Rhonda Lunsford.  “Well, as a lot of people know city charters are something that every city has to have to operate. Our city charter is very old and because it is very old and it needs to be updated. So, therefore we have voted to hire Georgia Mountain Regional Commission to redo or rewrite our city charter and it is going to be anywhere between $2,000 to $5,000.  The mayor suggested that we do a cap for $3,000 and that was approved. So, we are really excited to get the charter worked on. We’re hoping to get at least a good draft by the end of this year. So, we’re excited about that.”
